Elke Mastwijk (1967)

In the 1970's I learned to ride in the country side on the outskirts of Madrid. I loved it, it was all I ever wanted to do. When I was 13 my family moved back to Holland, for a while I signed up for riding lessons there but riding in a Dutch riding school was not for me. My life took many different turns after that and horses disappeared out of my life for 27 years.

In 1996 I established a private practice in Alexandertechnique and CranioSacral therapy in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Over the years riders have come to me for Alexander Technique lessons and CranioSacral Therapy. When they noticed how much they benefited from my sessions some riders asked me if I could treat their horses. Always in for a challenge I agreed. The horses responded so well to my initial treatments that I was soon asked through word of mouth to treat more horses. I already had an understanding of the human CranioSacral system after years of experience but I needed to gain a deeper understanding of the horse's CranioSacral system and anatomy. So in 2008 I trained with Maureen Rogers, an experienced teacher in this field.
